Perth Glory have scored 11 goals in their past three games, conceding just one, and are undefeated in their last eight as they surge up the A-League ladder. Sydney FC has scored six and conceded eight in its past three, including a 2-5 loss at home to Newcastle last week, which was just the Jets’ second away win all season.
The Sky Blues have lost at home to the Heart (0-4) and Brisbane (1-2) as well as the Jets, in the past seven weeks. They have not beaten a title contender since their 2-0 home victory over the Roar on December 4, at the start of the Roar’s losing run.
Perth on the other hand has won three and drawn two of its past five away games, including a win away to the flying Wellington Phoenix and victory over the Heart in Melbourne. Shane Smeltz is second on the goal-scoring table with nine, and is getting good support from Mile Sterjovski and Steve McGarry. The fact Danny Vukovic has only had to make 37 saves all season – the second-fewest in the league – indicates the Glory are stifling their opponents as well. Perth to win and further consolidate their top-4 spot.
